Deposit account download deductions

A  download is deducted from a Deposit Account when a user accesses the full-text view or downloads an article or chapter during a session.  An article or chapter downloaded more than once during the same session will only be counted as a single charge on the deposit.  If a user downloads the same article or chapter in different sessions the deposit will be deducted once per each session respectively.

A Session is a token stored as a cookie in the browser.  It is created when the user:
- comes to SpringerLink for the first time
- was inactive for more than 30 minutes and then resumed activity
- closed or quit the browser and starts a new browsing session

- uses a different browser
- logs out or logs in with personal credentials

If a user selects the option to download an entire book the deposit account will be charged at a maximum of downloads for that download.  A book with fewer chapters than the maximum will be charged for the exact number of chapters.

Articles or Chapters that are available through Deposit Account do not display the full-text automatically.  The user has to take further action to view the full-text or download the PDF for a download to count.

Note: The time zone used in deposit download reports will display as GMT (Greenwich Mean Time).
