Release of research data ahead of manuscript publication

Many Springer Nature journals and imprints, including the Nature journals and BMC journals, have established policies on data release ahead of publication. These policies make it clear data sharing will not be considered prior publication. Please check the Instructions for Authors of your chosen journal for further information.

Additionally, many data repositories can embargo your data or store them privately until you choose to release them. This can also facilitate the peer review of your data. Contact your chosen repository to find out if they support this.

Springer Nature strongly supports immediate and early sharing of research data in public health emergencies.
